LILONGWE CITY STEWARDSHIP TEAM SUPPORTS LAND AQUISITION FOR CHIKULUTI CHURCH
The Lilongwe City Zone Stewardship committee under the banner of the Central Malawi Conference Stewardship
and Planned Giving and Trust Services (PGTS) has donated MK500,000 to the newly organized Chikuluti SDA
Church in Mponela as a bailout package for payment of a piece of land that the church is acquiring.
Expressing his gratitude over the donation on behalf of Chikuluti SDA church, first elder for the church, Maxwell
Moffat said following this support, the church has almost settled their land payment balance.
“We had agreed with the land owner to finalize payment of K5 million bill by July this year. However, due to other
unforeseen circumstances the church delayed, remaining with K700,000 to offset. This donation therefore, is a
significant relief to Chikuluti,” observed Moffat.
He thanked the Lilongwe City Zone Stewardship committee for the timely contribution saying they did not only
display a spirit of comradery, but also a gesture of goodwill to the “teething” congregation.
On his part, vice chairperson for the Lilongwe City Zone Stewardship committee Pius Masache commended
Chikuluti SDA members for setting such a high bar when advancing God’s commission as guided by the “I will Go”
motif. He expressed optimism that the Lilongwe City Zone Stewardship committee was dedicated to helping solicit
funds from well-wishers to fast track the building of the planned church structure.
Inspiring the church to be vigilant ahead of the enormous building project, leader of the delegation Elder Dan
Mbozi from Area 47 SDA church empowered Chikuluti members with tips to achieve personal financial
independence challenging them that God expected all stewards to increase whatever He entrusts in their care.
Commenting on the development, Stewardship director for Central Malawi Conference of the Seventh day
Adventist Church, Pastor Gladson Bowa, advised all Adventist churches in the conference to formalize their land
ownership with authentic documentations. He counselled stewardship leaders and elders to engage his office for
technical guidance hinting that the merits of land title deeds could not be overemphasized.
Chikuluti SDA church, which has over 400 members, started on 14 October 2023 as an offshoot of Mponela Main
SDA Church following an evangelistic campaign conducted in the area by the stewardship committee.
