Singing groups in the church have been urged to embrace music evangelism as one way of enhancing evangelistic work if the church in the country is to achieve meaningful and sustainable growth.

Director of music at Machenga Seventh- day Adventist Church,Emmie Denga made the remarks on Saturday September 23, 2023 at Machenga seventh-day Adventist (SDA) church in Likuni district in Lilongwe during a choral Sabbath.

The theme of the choral Sabbath was “The power of Music” which was organized to encourage and strengthen singing groups in the church to step-up their efforts in embracing music as a tool for evangelism that would help in soul winning.

She further warned the singing groups to avoid unspiritual tendencies that would dent the image of the church but instead treat music as true worship that will help win more lives to Christ for them to experience salvation.

“I urge all singing groups and music directors to be watchful to unspiritual forces that would drive them away from embracing music as true worship to help attract listener’s attention to surrender their lives to God,” she explained.

In his speech chairperson of Chigwirizano SDA Church Future Adventist Men Organization (FAMO) Yamikani Mphasa said introduction of church singing groups is a positive step towards promoting music evangelism that is key in spiritual and church growth.

Mphasa said “Our singing should embrace Christ-like lifestyle that would help sooth people’s hearts and transform their lives for them to get prepared for second coming of Jesus Christ.”

In an interview at the end of the choral Sabbath, church elder of Machenga SDA church, Catherine Chalira said she was grateful for Chigwirizano SDA Church FAMO for spicing the choral Sabbath which is a milestone towards the promotion of music Evangelism.
