MCHESI SDA YOUTHS REACH OUT TO CHIWAMBA HEALTH CENTER
Mchesi Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Youth Department on 21 March, 2021, organized themselves and reached out to Chiwamba Health Centre in Lilongwe north East where they shared the love of God through giving.
This was also a day the Adventist Youths were celebrating the Global Youth Day under the theme, ‘I Will Go!’ which calls upon the Seventh-day Adventist youths globally to reach out to Cultures, Colour and Communities.
The youths visited the facility’s maternity wing and shared with them the word of God, and some assorted food and non-food items.
Among the items donated were, laundry soap, sugar, soya pieces, maize flour and other items including; local blooms, hard and soft (brushes) blooms, mops, maternity scale, masks, hand soap and sanitizers.
Speaking on behalf of the youths, Arnold M'modzi said they decided to visit this health center and shared with them the items not out of sheer pride, or to show off that they have more to give, but they were constrained by the love of God that is based on giving.
"God gave His only begotten son (John 3:16) to redeem the world from sin, not because He had many sons, but because He loved mankind.
As Mchesi SDA youths, we have come to cheer you up with the items we have brought not because we have a lot to give, but the love of God shown to us has constrained us to do something in return to what God gave us," said M’modzi.
Receiving the items on behalf of the health facility, Officer in Charge, Flossy Majamanda, who is a midwife nurse, thanked the youths for their charitable gesture towards the expectant mothers at the health facility.
She said that she was very glad that the SDA youths could conceive such a wonderful idea to assist the mothers and the facility.
"This is my first time since I came here to see a church, organization, let alone youths coming here to donate. You as Mchesi SDA youths are the first to do so.
You did not only assist the mothers, you have also donated to this hospital some equipment. These items will go a long way in helping us serve the community better, God bless you," she said.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Loveness Smoko thanked the youths for helping them with the items.
She said, "There are a lot of health facilities near where you live, but you chose Chiwamba health center which is kilometers away into the village. By so doing you have really proved that Philadelphia indeed must prevail".
The event was preceded by devotion conducted by Comrade Khalani Makunje from the book of 2 Corinthians 5:14.
Chiwamba health Centre treats out patients, and only admits patients for referrals to major hospitals.
