CMC PRESIDENT SHARES 2024 MAJOR HIGHLIGHTS




Central Malawi Conference President Pastor Pastor John A.G. Phiri on the evening of 15th December 2024 shared Central Malawi Conference major highlights which the Conference has accomplished.


The president felt imperative to share some highlights to reflect on how CMC performed in the year 2023 and 2024.


Among the Strategic pillars the president talked include

Overview Statistics, Strategic Pillars, Strides in Evangelism and Church Growth, Stewardship,

Strides in Finances, Education, Publishing, and Communication.


Statistically, the president said Central Malawi Conference has a total of 57 districts, 1130 churches and 138,321 baptized members out of a total of about 8 million population.


He added that this is against a total membership of 131,171 last year, reflecting a growth of 5.3%.


However, he reminded listeners and viewers of the CMC growth target which was pegged at 25%.

He further highlighted that CMC is home to 61 pastors, 18 teachers, 8 accountants 10 APDs as well as 28 general staff.



Going by each pillar, on Evangelism and Church Growth, Pastor Phiri, said CMC plans to quadruple new members from 118,000 to 500,000 by 2027 with new penetration in Dowa, Ntchisi and Mchinji districts.


On Pillar 2, Spiritual Growth (In reach), the president said CMC plan to retain 80% of those newly baptized.


On Pillar 3 which is Leadership, CMC plans to build capacity of the CMC executive so that they execute work efficiently.


On Pillar 4, Infrastructure Development, CMC plans to meet 30% demand of new infrastructure within the conference until 2027 according to the Strategic Plan.


Pillar 5 which is on Sustainability and Resilience, the CMC President said it is his wish to continuously ensure institutional resilience and sustainability for CMC from 2023.


Expanding on the Go Plant One Project, the CMC President said this is where they stress preaching that aim at planting a church and not otherwise. Earmarked for this project is Dowa, Ntchisi, Mchinji and Lilongwe districts.


Statistically, the president said, this project has yielded

41 Churches planted in 2024 vs 68 in 2023,141 efforts conducted in 2024 vs 386 in 2023, 3977 bible studies in 2024 vs 4717 in 2023, 769 community Service vs 297 in 2023.


The President expressed disappointment over the dismal number of individuals winning souls to Christ. This, he translated at 1 person striving to win a soul with 17 others idle.


On Stewardship, he said it is very disappointing that only 14%, of the membership are returning tithe to God .


On Finance, the president was happy to inform membership of the 3 billion kwacha collection in 2024. A total of 12 billion would have been reached if all members were tithing.


On Education, he said CMC which has two secondary schools, is registering success as Lakeview and Mbwatalika registered a pass rate of 71% and 73.3% pass rate respectively. Lakeview had a highest MSCE score of 13 points while Mbwatalika scored 12.


On Publishing and Communication, the President mentioned a remarkable progress on recruiting book evangelists. He noted that 252 literature evangelists have been recruited in 2024 against 167 in 2023.


These evangelists have sold a total of 6,448 books realizing a total of K69 million. They also sold a total of 6741 Great Controversy books.


Narrowing down to Communications, Pastor Phiri, said the church is reaching out to many through reports and digital evangelism. He disclosed that a total of 310 churches are able to do this on their social platforms.


On growth, the president said a total of 119 acres of land was acquired to put up a mission that has been budded Chia View Mission. He thanked Kawale Church for the efforts it made to built a church at this mission with assistance from Central Malawi Conference and other well wishers. Plans, the president said, are underway to construct a clinic, school and water installation.


On putting up Central Malawi Conference Head Offices, Pastor Phiri said all the paperwork was finalised and a contractor was identified to start the infrastructure soon and that this will be done in phases.


He then announced that CMC will convene a very big Prayer Meeting in April 2025 at Chia View Mission with an aim to devote time to God and let spiritual growth take effect in CMC members.



A total of 5,000 people are expected to attend this Big Prayer Meeting week at Chia View Mission in Dowa. He therefore requested this meeting message to be spread far and wide within and without CMC.


Lastly Pastor Phiri urged every CMC member to support the conference initiatives.


He also said doors were open for questions and accessing the report.
