CMC CONDUCTS FIRST EVER MASTERGUIDE INVESTITURE AT PRISON

First ever Adventist Youth Ministries Masterguide induction for prisoners in Malawi in Central took place at Maula Prison on 10th February, 2024. This was a historical milestone as eight prisoners were invested under Lilongwe North-West district. In attendance were many youths and masterguides from all corners of Lilongwe.

The Masterguide Club at the prison started in 2022 with fifty-three candidates but the number reduced because some members were transferred to other prisoners and others had left after completing their sentences.

Speaking on behalf of the class, Masterguide Charles Dosantos Damiano said that they have benefited a lot from the course and the leadership skills learnt will help them serve the Lord. He continued to say that it was a memorable occasion since it was the first in this conference. He said he is looking forward to teach other inmates.

Among the notable delegates present were the Adventist Youth Ministries Director, Pastor Joshua Ben Zilinde and other directors from Central Malawi Conference, church leaders from Area 47 Church and Lilongwe City Youth Ministries Zone officers. Area 47 members were also present as the host and owners of Maula Prison initiative.

Speaking on this occasion Youth Director Joshua Zilinde commended Area 47 Church members for the good work. He also thanked and commended the four mentors for the class one, of whom is an inmate serving his sentence at Maula. The inmate was thanked in a special way for coming forward to openly use his talents which was an example to many.

Alpha Supritendant James Nsimuko, an officer represnting the prison commanding officer thanked the church and requested that this should continue.

He also said that he was sure that through this initiative many people will be reached and baptised.

"We hope this will help to reach out to many souls. These people are getting physically and spiritually transformed." he emphasised.
