Lay Preachers Crusade Wins Sixty Eight Souls

68 people got baptised on Sabbath 2nd June 2018 at the end of a two week crusade which was conducted by Lilongwe City Zone Lay preachers at Ngongonda/Kaphiri area in Lilongwe. Evangelist Levious Yonasi was the preacher during the crusade.

According to the chairperson of Lilongwe city zone,Elton Makhiya, the crusade was organised as a response to the challenge given by the Central Malawi Conference at the recent lay preachers training at Nalikule college, that all twelve zones of the conference should conduct a crusade. "We wanted to live up to the challenge to put into practice what we had learnt during the training. We are happy to see the fruits today. We are thankful to the conference for the financial and moral support. From here we will all go to conduct crusades in our districts. We are fired up,and we want to win more souls’’ Said Makhiya.

Makhiya further said the surrounding churches will have the responsibility of nurturing the new members. These churches include Kaphiri,Area 24,Kalinga,and Ngwenya. Pastor Gladson Bowa of Lilongwe East district commended the Lay preachers for successfully organising the crusade. He urged them to consider more crusades in un-entered areas of the conference.

Pastor C. Matekenya of Falls district appealed to both new and old members to commit themselves to the work of winning souls. "Winning souls is what each and every Christian need to do in these last days. We all need to dedicate our time, resources and energy to this noble task’’. He said.

In his closing remarks, Evangelist Levious Yonasi commended the converts for choosing the truth and assured them of God’s protection. "God will not forsake you.He will protect you’’. He told them.

The closing ceremony was graced by Pastor Mchewere Banda, Central Malawi Conference director of Youth, as well as Elder Lutho Zungu - Conference Chairperson for Lay Preachers, and chiefs from the surrounding areas.
