Communications Department Promoted in Mchinji District

Seventh Day Adventist Church of Maula Area in the Mchinji district conducted a two week crusade that started on the 16th October and ended on 29th October. Maula area is about four kilometers from Mchinji Central Business area. Twenty-three people were baptized at the end of a two week evangelistic crusade. The district Pastor of Mchinji Seventh Day Adventist Church, Pastor C.L.Matekenya was the main speaker during the crusade.

Pastor Matekenya thanked the newly baptized members for responding to the call to follow Christ. He also urged the old members to nurture the new members by partnering with them, loving them, encouraging them, and motivating them.

Chief Maula of the area also expressed his gratitude to the church for conducting the effort in his area. “These meetings transform societies, we need more of such meetings” .He said.


In the same District, on 29th October Sabbath day, three members of the executive committee of Central Malawi Conference Communication Department went on a trail to promote the communication department in four churches of Mchinji district.

The three were; The Associate Communication Director Mr. Wilan Mkandawire, The Executive Secretary Mr. Yunos Kamba and the President for Kambwana Zone Mr. Chimwemwe Golombe. They visited Mchinji Central Church, Madzimayera Church, Mount View Church and Maula Church where they sensitized members on the role of communication department in the church and how they can support the department to ensure that it serves them better.


Mr. Mkandawire appealed to the churches to involve communication leaders in all their programs. “Involve them so that you get maximum coverage” ‘He said .He further asked the churches to elect people who have an interest in communication. The Central Malawi Conference website and facebook page were included in the promotion. The First Elder of Mchinji Central Church, Dr. Mazunda who accompanied the team in all the churches, He thanked the team for the initiative. ‘This will strengthen the communication department in our churches‘. He said. In closing remarks, Pastor C.L. Matekenya asked the communication team to facilitate training for communication leaders in the district in January 2017.
