Central malawi Conference Children Ministries Visits Glad Tidings Orphanage in Salima
Children ministries of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church Lilongwe City Zone on Sunday, 9th October 2016 visited The Glad Tidings Orphan Care Centre where they donated assorted items. Among the items donated there was bags of maize, packets of sugar, cartons of U-Fresh soap kitchen salt , units of exercise books, boxes of ballpoint including dozens of pencils and pieces of clothes and blanket. Two hundred and fourty orphans are to benefit from this donation.
The Children together with their coordinators then proceeded to Senga Bay to appreciate the nature and removing sweat and dirt by dipping themselves into the waters of Lake Malawi.
Glad Tidings, an Assemblies of God owned orphanage started in 2004.The objective is to help the communities to become self reliant and to instil a spirit of relying on God. The centre provides the following services:
Welfare outreach to orphans and vulnerable children.
Clinic.Which provides Under Five Clinic,family planning ervices,antenatal services,HIV tesing and Counselling.
Feeding programme for school children.
The centre faces the following challenges: Food shortage, scholarstic support, Mosquito nets, Clothes and Bicycles for volunteers.
Pastor Elford Mnyama is the centre manager.He thanked the children for the support.‘The support is timely,especially now that schools have just opened.It will alleviate some problems.These children lack books and pens among others‘.He said. Lilongwe Children Ministries Zone Coordinator,Ernest Saidi assured the centre that theChildren Ministries will continue to support the centre. He however appealed to the centre authorities to ensure that the support reaches the intended beneficiaries.
Glad Tidings supports both Christian and Muslim Children.
