Chipoka Camp Meeting: AMO Resurrects After a 20 Year Slumber!

Area 3 Family Life department organized a week seminar in order to enable church members have exposure on issues that affect them.  Drilled

The Seventh Day Adventist has a Family life Ministries Department in order to enhance and promote unity and for the purpose of redemption that parents and children be saved.  The church also has the department to give premarital guidance to young people (Adventist Youth) and to protect both children and parents from evil influences and remain free from devil’s pollution on family matters.

The Family life week seminar was conducted by Pastor Dr. Khonje and His wife Shepherdess Khonje. They had many lessons that benefited both the youth and their parents, topics like dating, parents support to their children, how to bring up children of the current generation and how the media is contributing to the child growth. They mainly focused on the youth because they are the leaders of tomorrow, because it is said that the” fruits of tomorrow are in the seeds of today”.

Some of the things that the Khonje families taught, are things that parents need to teach their children and the following are some of them;

  1. Obedience – children should obey their parents

  2. Trust - trust in God not in their friends. Blessed is he who trust in God

  3. Pray – teach them how to pray. Even when Jesus was on Earth, His Disciples asked Him to teach them how to pray.

  4. Associations- Parents should not make unholy connections for their kids. Even if they wan to get married, children should choose a partner from good and holy place.

The family life Department leader of Area 3 SDA church Mr. Buxton Mpando was happy to have fulfilled his expectations to conduct the seminar. “The expectation is that the church members gain knowledge on how to manage families and that there would be excellent relationship between parents and children” he said. The other reason is that children should be well guided in their decision making on family formation and management.

Pastor Dr. Khonje also dedicated the little children from 0-14 years old, to Christ. About 11 children were dedicated.

The week was wrapped up by a trip to Malingunde Dam where families did various kinds of sporting activities and ate together.
